The Guelph Gateway Midget Gators participated in the Compuware Classic Softball Tournament this past weekend and ended up finishing 5th out of 32 teams despite missing captains Vicky Rumph and Bailey Reid who could not play since they had finished a year of NCAA softball in 2010. In their first game of pool play, the Gators lost 9 – 0 to Naperville Diamonds after a game full of fielding and mental errors. They managed only 2 hits one by Brittney Crawford and the other by Nikki Fulton. Next they faced the Great Lakes Lightning team losing 4 – 2. The Gators started the game off with 2 runs in the first inning when Mackenzie Hunter reached on a single and Jess Martin on a fielder’s choice. Kyla Bunnaman drove them in with a single but the Gators could not hold off the Lighting, they scored 3 runs in the bottom of the 6th for the win. The Gators surprised the Wolfpack of Ohio in the bottom of the 4th scoring 7 runs on hits by Jaclyn Hunter, Jess Martin, Alyssa Cantalini, Jocelyn Hansen and Mackenzie Hunter for a 7-6 victory. The Gators started the championship round with a 2 – 0 win over the Michigan Lookouts. The Gators defense got them out of a couple of jams. The Gators were able to score the only run they needed in the 3rd inning after Brittney Crawford lead off with a single. Mackenzie Hunter laid down a sacrifice bunt to move her into scoring position. Nikki Fulton hit a deep fly ball to right field to advance Crawford to third. With two out Jaclyn Hunter hit the ball hard to short to cause an error and score Crawford. Other hits were awarded to Rachel Warmington, Sierra McLaren and Brandy Hansen. Shelby Kurt went the distance for the Gators allowing only 1 hit with 5 strikeouts. Next game for the Gators they faced the only other Canadian team in the tournament, Scarborough Rays. The Rays struck early with 1 run in the first inning. The Gators had runners in scoring position for the first 3 innings but could not get them in. Down 2- 0 in the bottom of the 4th Alyssa Cantalini lead off with a single, Kyla Bunnaman advance her to second on a fielder’s choice, then Jocelyn Hansen had a single to load the bases. Cantalini scored on a passed ball. Mackenzie Hunter reached base with a walk then Brittney Crawford belted a triple to clear the bases to put the Gators up 4 – 2 for the win. Heather Ryder pitched 4 great innings allowing only 1 hit with 4 strikeouts. Leah Nakitsas came in for the save. The Gators would lose the next game which meant they were down to 1 life. They faced the Ohio Stingrays and lost 8 – 6. Leah Nakitsas took the loss. Jaclyn Hunter had two RBI’s in the game, while Jess Martin and Mackenzie Hunter each had 1. Up next they faced the Illinois Bash and eliminated them from the tournament with a 4 – 0 win. Shelby Kurt went the distance allowing only 1 hit and striking out 11. Jess Martin had a single in the fourth inning and Leah Nakitsas advanced her into scoring position on a sacrifice bunt. Jocelyn Hansen put the ball into play which caused an error that would score the only run the Gators needed. They got the insurance runs on a single by Jaclyn Hunter that scored 2. Brandy Hansen called a great game for Kurt and they both got great defensive play by the infield when the Bash were threatening in the 4th inning. Kurt gave up a walk then an infield error caused the ball to go into right field but we were able to turn a 9 – 2 – 6 play for 1 out and then a 6 – 2 -5 – 6 to end the inning. Again the Gators had to face the Scarborough Rays and were successful in eliminating them from the tournament with a 7 – 1 win. Leah Nakitsas got the win allowing only 3 hits, Heather Ryder got the save. Bunnaman had the key hit with a bases clearing double in the top of the 1st while Nikki Fulton had a double and singles went to Alyssa Cantalini, Jess Martin, Heather Ryder and Rachel Warmington. Heather Ryder pitched a stellar 5 innings facing The Elite from Michigan. The Elite scored their first run in the first inning but Ryder held them to 4 hits with 4 strikeouts. The Gators tied it up in the 5th inning on a single by Jaclyn Hunter who scored on a double by Alyssa Cantalini. The Elite scored their second run in the top of the 6th but the Gators were not going away easily. Jaclyn Hunter lead off the bottom of the 6th with a double and Mackenzie Hunter came in as a pinch runner. Jess Martin grounded out to advance Hunter to third and then Rachel Warmington laid down the perfect bunt for the suicide squeeze to score. Shelby Kurt came in to pitch and there were no runs scored in the 7th so it into extra innings. The Elite managed to score with the international tiebreaker in the top of the 8th with the runner starting at second base. The Gators however did not manage to score in the bottom of the inning and were eliminated from the tournament. The Gateway Midget Gators are participating in the Mississauga Partners 6th Annual Fastpitch Tournament held at Dunton Park in Mississauga this weekend.

The Guelph Gateway Midget Gators claimed the silver medal at the Waterloo Ghosts Invitational Tournament this past weekend. The Gators started the tournament with an 8 – 2 loss against the Brampton Blazers in a game that was filled with mental and physical errors. Sierra McLaren belted a triple, Brandy Hansen had a double and Vicky Rumph a single. Heather Ryder took the loss. The Gators bounced back with a 16 – 0 win over Waterloo, leading at the plate was McLaren and Rumph with 2 hits each, a double by Kyla Bunnaman and singles going to B Hansen, Jess Martin, Alanna Anstett, Mackenzie Hunter and Alyssa Cantalini. Next game saw the Gators lose to Oakville 11 – 4, Bunnaman had a homerun with singles going to Anstett, Cantalini, Rumph, Martin, Jocelyn Hansen and M Hunter. The Gators squeaked their way into the finals with a 2 – 0 win over the London Lightning. Leah Nakitsas got the win with 6 strikeouts. The locals scored both runs in the bottom of the 2nd when McLaren singled in Jess Martin and Kyla Bunnaman who were advanced to 2nd and 3rd by a perfect bunt by J Hansen. In the finals, the Gators were downed 4 – 2 by the Brampton Blazers. Rachel Warmington had the loss with 6 innings pitched allowing 7 hits with 2 strikeouts. With the Gators down by 4 heading into the seventh, Anstett reached on her second hit of the game and Martin followed with a walk. They both scored on a double by Vicky Rumph. J Hunter then reached on a base hit and Bunnaman loaded the bases on a fielder’s choice but the Gateway girls were unable to score with the bases loaded. Alanna Anstett had 2 hits; singles were awarded to J Hunter and B Hansen. In league action the Gators continued in their winning ways with a 13 – 2 win over Palmerston 2 and a7 – 0 win over Stratford. The Gators next home game is Tuesday June 8th at Exhibition Park against the London Lightning. Game time is 8:30. |
Guelph Gateway Midget Gators perfect in Grand Valley Action |

The Guelph Gateway Midget Gators continued to be perfect in Grand Valley Action with 1 win at home and 2 on the road. At home the Gators defeated Ancaster 5 – 3, Shelby Kurt pitched 6 innings giving up only 2 hits and striking out 12, she also helped herself at the plate with 2 hits. Going into the 6th down by 1, Heather Ryder had a triple that scored 2 and Jaclyn Hunter then singled to score Ryder to take the lead. Singles also went to Rachel Warmington, Sierra McLaren and Vicky Rumph. Next saw the Gators travel to Brantford to face their second team. The Gators scored 3 in the first and 3 in the second and never looked back winning 9 – 0. Jaclyn Hunter lead at the plate with a double and 2 singles. Alyssa Cantalini had a double and a single. Singles were awarded to Warmington, McLaren Ryder, Brandy Hansen and Melanie Smith. Leah Nakitsas got the win tossing a 1 hitter and striking out 13. The Gators travelled to London to face the Lightening and won 5 – 3. Ryder pitched 7 innings giving up 3 runs on 7 hits, with 4 strikeouts. Mackenzie Hunter had a triple and a single, Cantalini had a RBI triple, Rumph had 2 hits with an RBI and a stolen base. Also with 2 hits were Jocelyn Hansen. Alanna Anstett added a RBI single and McLaren and Warmington each with a sacrifice RBI. This weekend the Guelph Gateway Midget Gators will participate in the Waterloo Ghosts Invitational.

The Guelph Gateway Gators Midget softball team participated in the Brampton Spring Tune Up on the weekend. After a two day rain delay the Gators managed have a 3 and 1 record on Sunday. In a very chilly start to a very early morning the Gators beat Oakville Malasani 3 – 0. Leah Nakitsas pitched 3 innings allowing only 1 hit, Bantam call up Lyndsay Butler came in for the save. Jaclyn Hunter led the Gators with 2 RBI’s from her double. Alyssa Cantalini and Heather Ryder each added singles. The next game saw the Gators down the Brampton Blazers 4 – 0. Butler and Ryder shared the pitching duties allowing 4 hits, each with a strikeout. Nikki Fulton had a double and singles went to Kyla Bunnaman, Brandy Hansen and Butler. Their third game they suffered a loss to the Brantford Bobcats by a score of 6 - 4. Alanna Anstett and Rachel Warmington each had a pair of singles. Singles were also added by Ryder and Hunter. Ryder and Warmington shared the pitching duties allowing 9 hits. The last game of the day saw the Gators beat Oakville Abbott by a score of 6 – 0. Fulton led the Gators at the plate with 3 RBI’s off a homerun and a single. Ryder had 2 singles and Warmington and Butler add 1 apiece. Nakitsas and Butler shared the pitching allowing 1 hit each. The Gators started their Grand Valley League play with a 9 – 0 win Tuesday night over the Waterloo Ghosts at Hillside Park. Vicki Rumph returned from a successful first year with Youngstown State to lead the Gators with a single, a double and a triple. Nakitsas had 2 hits, Warmington had a triple and Sierra McLaren added 2 RBI’s. Singles went to Fulton, Hunter and Ryder. Warmington started the game allowing no hits and striking out 2, Ryder came in with no hits and striking out 4. The Gators first home game will be next Tuesday May 18th against Ancaster. Game time is 8:30pm at Exhibition Park.

2010 Gateway Midget Gators Go Undefeated in Syracuse |

The Guelph Gateway Gators Midget softball team participated in the 2009 Homerun Softball Fall College Showcase 18U in Syracuse New York this past Thanksgiving weekend coming home with 5 wins and no losses.
The Gators defeated the Central New York Wildcats 9 - 4 in their first game. Heather Ryder and Lyndsay Butler combined for the win, allowing 6 hits. Jade McGarr lead the Gators with a double and a single, Jocelyn Hansen had a triple and Mackenzie Hunter had a double. Kyla Bunnaman, Leah Nakistas, Nikki Fulton, Heather Ryder, Lyndsay Butler, Melanie Smith and Sierra McLaren each added singles.
Next game saw the Gators down the Rochester Thunder 10 - 0 with Butler and Nakitsas sharing the pitching duties allowing 2 hits each with 4 strikeouts for Butler and 2 for Nakitsas. All Gators contributed with a hit each in this game with Alyssa Cantalini hitting a homerun and Hunter and McGarr chipping in with a double each.
Third game of the day saw the Gators defeat the Rochester Lady Lions 5 – 4 in a close game. Nakitsas pitched 2 innings allowing only 1 hit. Rachel Warmington came in relief for the win; she gave up 5 hits and had 1 strikeout. Fulton lead the Gators with 2 RBI’s, Cantalini chipped in with a double while Hanson, Butler, Hunter, Kelly Nancekivell, Ryder and Nakitsas each had singles. The Gators turned a double play in the bottom of the 5th to keep it a one run game before scoring 3 in the sixth to overtake the lead.
Sunday morning the Gators faced the STPS Ponies from Binghamton and won 9 - 4. Heather Ryder pitched the first 4 innings allowing 3 hits. Butler came in relief allowing no runs on 3 hits. Leading the Gators with 2 singles each were McLaren and Fulton, Nancekivel added a double, Cantalini had a triple and Warmington hit a homerun to put the game out of reach. Warmington and McLaren each picked up 2 RBI’s.
The last game of the day saw the Gators play the Wildcats again in a rematch and beat them again by a score of 7 - 1. McLaren lead the Gators with a double and a single, Hunter had a double while Fulton chipped in with 2 singles. Bunnaman had 2 RBI’s and Hansen and Nancekivell each added a single apiece. Butler pitched 3 innings allowing 2 hits with 2 strikeouts. Nakitsas pitched 4 innings gave up 4 hits and had 7 strikeouts.

2009 Gateway Gators (Vallance)
The Guelph Gateway Midget Gators (Vallance) lost in the quarter finals at the Aunt Rosie’s tournament in Amherst, New York over the American long weekend.
The Gators lost their first game of the tournament, 11-1, to the Roch Lady Lions. Jess Martin pitched 2 1/3 innings allowing 9 hits before Rachel Warmington came on for the last 2 2/3 innings. Warmington allowed 7 hits and both pitchers had 2 strikeouts. Jill Russell contributed with a triple and Alanna Anstett has a double and a single. Singles went to Kyla Bunnaman and Mackenzie Merkley.
The Gators came out swinging in the next game beating Castle Fireball, 16-6. Multiple hit games went to Jaclyn Hunter with a single and double, Martin and Nikki Fulton with 2 singles each, Warmington with a double and triple and Vicky Rumph with a single and triple. Singles went to Anstett, Russell, Katie Burke, Merkley, and Shelby Kurt. They were helped with a strong performance by starter Leah Nakitsas pitching 3 innings allowing only 4 hits. Kurt finished the games striking out 5 batters and allowing 2 hits in the last 2 innings.
In a rematch after a 5-5 tie in a tournament 3 weeks ago, the Gators beat the Pittsburgh Spirit, 1-0. Kurt hurled a 2-hit complete game and struck out 8 batters. Martin hit a triple and a single and scored the only run of the game. Singles went to Anstett, Bunnaman, Fulton and Kurt.
Warmington started the next game which saw the Gators win 4-1 against the Diamond Girls. She went 4 innings with 2 strikeouts and gave up 2 hits. Nakitsas came on in relief for 3 innings, striking out 3 and allowing 1 hit. Leading the offence was Russell with a triple, double and 2 singles. Brittney Crawford also had a multiple hit game with a double and single. Fulton contributed with a triple, Rumph a double and Burke a single.
The Lady Mustangs were the next victim of the Gators losing 13-0. Kurt hurled a complete game allowing only 1 hit while striking out 5. Singles went to Russell, Burke, and Bunnaman. Multiple hits were recorded by Anstett – 2 singles, Merkley – single and double, Fulton – double and triple, and Rumph – 2 singles and a double.
The playoff elimination rounds started with a back and forth battle against the Wildcats which the Gators won 8-7. The highlight of this game occurred when, in addition to her single, Jill Russell smoked a homerun over the centre field fence. Joining Russell with multiple hit games were Crawford and Martin with 2 singles each, and Burke and Fulton with 2 singles and a double each. Singles went to Anstett and Bailey Reid with a double going to Rumph. Martin started the game allowing 8 hits and striking out 1 in 3 2/3 innings. Coming on in relief was Nakitsas giving up only 1 hit and striking out 3 in 3 1/3 innings.
The Gators lost a heart-breaker to Team Ontario in the quarter finals, 2-1. This was a pitcher’s duel aided by strong defence on both sides. Shelby Kurt went the distance pitching the full 7 innings. She gave up 5 hits and struck out 4. There were only 3 hits in the game, a triple by Martin and singles by Russell and Rumph. This tight game saw the Gators get out of a couple innings leaving Team Ontario runners in scoring position. The winning run was finally scored in the bottom of the 7th inning with one out.
Guelph Gateway Gators will be hosting the 2009 Provincial Midget Tier I Championship. This event will be held at Guelph Lake on July 17th – 19th. The local girl’s games are on Friday at 12 pm and 4 pm. They take the field again on Saturday at 11 am and 3 pm with the elimination rounds beginning Saturday evening. Come out, catch some great softball games and cheer on the Gators to victory. |

2009 Gateway Gators (Vallance)
The Guelph Gateway Midget Gators (Vallance) brought home the silver medal after playing in the Mississauga Partnership Tournament on June 25 – 28/09.
The Gators opened the tournament with a 5-1 win over the Quebec Rebelles ’92. Rachel Warmington tossed 4 innings allowing 3 hits and striking out 4. Call-up Lyndsey Butler finished the game going 2 innings while striking out 1. Bailey Reid and Steph Foreman each had 2 hits, Reid 2 singles while Foreman had a double and a homerun. Warmington also has a single.
Mississauga North – Davis came up short against the Gators losing 6-2. Jess Martin allowed only 2 hits and struck out 1 for the complete game victory. Singles were the story of the day with Alanna Anstett, Jaclyn Hunter, Jill Russell and Vicky Rumph each contributing 2 while Martin added 1 of her own.
The Gators only lose of the tournament, 5-0, came at the hands of the Chinguacousy Cougars. The only hits of the game went to Rumph with a double and Russell with a single. Leah Nakitsas started the game going 4 2/3 innings with 5 hits and 5 strikeouts. Warmington came on to get the final out of the game.
The Gators bounced back with a 13-0 win over the Palmerston ’90 team. Warmington struck out 3 on her way to claiming the no-hit victory. Multiple hit games went to Brittney Crawford, with a double and a triple, and Russell with 2 doubles. Rebecca Stanley punched out a triple accompanied by singles from Anstett, Hunter, Kyla Bunnaman, Nikki Fulton, Foreman and Rumph.
The quarter-final game saw the Gators beat Brampton 6-1. Martin started the game going 5 innings and allowing 5 hits with 5 strikeouts. Shelby Kurt came on to finish the last 2 innings. She struck out 3 without allowing a hit. Fulton was on fire this game, stroking 2 triples and a single. Anstett contributed 2 singles, Rumph hit a double and Crawford and Martin both contributed with singles.
Behind the strong pitching performance of Nakitsas, the Gators won the semi-final game against Mississauga North – Acton, 8-4. Nakitsas pitched 4 2/3 innings striking out 4 and giving up 5 hits. Warmington finished the final 1 1/3 innings without giving up a hit. Triples were recorded by Martin, Fulton with Russell hitting 2 triples. Singles went to Crawford, Mackenzie Merkley and Rumph chipped in 2 singles.
The final game was rained out. Because Chinguacousy beat Guelph in round robin play, they were awarded the gold medal while Guelph took home the silver.

The Guelph Gateway Midget Gators (Vallance) went undefeated over the weekend at the Capital City Showdown in Columbus Ohio.
In their opening game the Gators beat the Inferno, 8-0. Multiple hit games went to Katie Burke with a homerun and double, Rachel Warmington with a double and single and Kyla Bunnaman with 3 singles. Rounding out the hitting was Vicky Rumph with a homerun and Bailey Reid with a single. Leah Nakitsas and call-up Trista Hutchings combined for a no-hitter. Nakitsas pitched 4 innings striking out 3 while Hutchings pitched the last inning. Vicky Rumph was named the MVP of the game.
Friday’s second game was a 4-0 victory over the Warren Wave. There were only 4 hits in this game; a double by Brittney Crawford and singles by Reid, Warmington and Rumph. Jess Martin threw 5 innings allowing 3 hits while striking out 2. Warmington came in to finish the game pitching 2 innings with 3 hits. Trista Hutchings was the game’s MVP.
The first game on Saturday saw the Gateway Gators win 6-0 behind the strong pitching performance of Trista Hutchings. She pitched the complete game going 7 innings with 4 hits and 4 strikeouts. She was named the MVP of the game. Leading the offence for the Gators was Burke with a homerun, double and single. Nikki Fulton had a triple and single while Alanna Anstett and Martin had 2 singles apiece. Crawford, Mackenzie Merkley, Warmington and Rumph each contributed with singles.
The Indiana Diamond Outkast went down to defeat, losing 9-0 in 5 innings. Nakitsas started the game going 4 2/3 innings allowing 2 hits while striking out 4. Martin came on to get the final out. Multiple hit games when to Anstett with 2 singles, Crawford with a single and double and Burke with a double and triple. Singles went to Fulton and Rumph. Alanna Anstett was the game’s MVP.
The weekend’s only tie, 5-5, came at the hands of the Pittsburgh Spirit Gold. Burke led the attack with a homerun and a double. Crawford cracked a triple while singles went to Anstett, Martin, Bunnaman, Warmington and Rumph. Martin tossed 3 1/3 innings allowing 7 hits. Warmington came on in relief giving up no hits in 3 2/3 innings. Katie Burke was named the MVP of the game.
Saturday’s last game was a 9-5 win over Kishwaukee Valley Storm. Kyla Bunnaman was named the game’s MVP. She had a triple and 3 singles in this game. Reid hit a triple and single while Burke had 2 singles. Rumph had a triple and Martin and Fulton hit singles. Hutchings went 4 innings allowing 1 hit and striking out 5. Nakitsas came in for the final 2 innings giving up 2 hits and striking out 3.
Sunday saw the Gators squeak out a 3-2 victory over the Chosen Few. Martin pitched 4 innings and Hutchings the final 3 innings. Both allowed 2 hits and struck out 3. Rumph hit a triple and single while singles went to Anstett, Crawford, Jaclyn Hunter, Burke, and Warmington. Jess Martin was the MVP of the game.
The final game of the weekend saw the Gators defeat Mchenry County Heatwave, 4-0. Nakitsas threw 5 innings allowing 5 hits and 5 strikeouts. Warmington completed the last inning allowing 1 hit and striking out 2. Martin and Rumph each had a single and double. Hunter and Bunnaman punched out 2 singles each while singles went to Anstett, Burke, and Merkley. The MVP of this game was Leah Nakitsas. |

Despite a record of 2-3, the Guelph Gateway Midget Gators (Vallance) captured the bronze medal in a tournament in Brantford over the weekend of June 6–7, 2009.
Saturday morning the Gators lost to Brantford, 7-3. Jess Martin started the game, going 3 2/3 innings allowing 8 hits with 1 strikeout. Leah Nakitsas pitched the final 2 1/3 innings, striking out 2 while allowing 3 hits. Offensively, Bailey Reid had a home run while Jaclyn Hunter, Martin, Jill Russell, Kyla Bunnaman and Nikki Fulton each contributed a single.
The Gators then went on to beat Brampton, 6-1. Katie Burke and Rebecca Stanley had multiple hit games, with Stanley recording a triple and single and Burke 2 singles. Russell also had a triple in this game. Singles went to Reid, Brittney Crawford, Fulton, Rachel Warmington, Shelby Kurt, and Steph Foreman. Kurt tossed a complete game, striking out 4 and allowing 5 hits.
The last game on Saturday was a heartbreaker. The Gators entered the 7th inning down 8-3. Despite the last inning rally, the Gators lost the game 8-7. Burke led the offence with 2 triples. Stanley had 3 singles and Reid had 2 singles. Contributing singles were Alanna Anstett, Crawford, Martin, Nakitsas, and Vicky Rumph. Nakitsas pitched 2 2/3 innings allowing 7 hits and striking out 1. Pitching the final 3 1/3 innings was Warmington. She allowed 5 hits and had 1 strike out.
Sunday morning saw the Gators struggling at the plate. They lost to Chinguacousy, 6-1. The Gator had only 3 hits; a triple by Russell and a single each for Bunnaman and Stanley. Martin tossed 3 innings allowing 4 hits and had 1 strikeout. Nakitsas came on to finish the game going 2 innings without allowing a hit.
The bronze medal game saw a rematch between Oakville and the Gators. Gators needed 8 innings to win 2-1. Fulton, Stanley and Rumph recorded the only singles of the game. Oakville started their half of the first inning with a home run which proved to be their only run of the game. Anstett crossed the plate in top of the second inning to tie the game and it remained tied through the rest of regulation play. Using international tie breaking rules, Burke started on second base in the top of the 8th. She was moved to 3rd on a sacrifice bunt by Hunter and scored on a ground out by Crawford. In the bottom of the 8th, Oakville had runners at 1st and 3rd with no one out when Nakitsas struck out the batter and Rumph threw out the runner trying to steal 2nd. An infield pop fly gave the bronze medal to the Gators. Nakitsas pitched the complete game striking out 5 and allowing 6 hits. |

2009 Gateway Midget Gators (Vallance)
The Guelph Gateway Midget Gators (Vallance) played in a tournament in Whitby over the weekend of May 29–31, 2009.
Friday night saw the Gators go down to defeat, 10-5, in a rain shortened game against Mississauga North-Acton. Leading the Gators at bat was Vicky Rumph with a triple and Katie Burke who recorded 2 singles. Jess Martin started the game, going 2 innings while allowing 8 hits. Shelby Kurt came on for the final 3 innings and allowed 5 hits while striking out 1.
Saturday morning, the Gateway Gators recorded a 19-0 win against Orleans. Leah Nakitsas pitched a no-hitter while striking out 3 batters. The high-light of this game was back to back home runs by Steph Foreman and Rebecca Stanley. In addition to their home runs Stanley contributed a single with Foreman hitting a double and triple. Rumph had a triple and a single while Jill Russell contributed a triple and 2 singles. 3 other Gators also had multiple hit games, Kyla Bunnaman, Brittney Crawford, and Nakitsas. Single hits went to Jaclyn Hunter and Rachel Warmington.
The 2nd game of the day saw Guelph defeat Chingacousy, 3-1. Kurt pitched a complete game allowing only 2 hits with 8 strikeouts. Martin had a triple and single while Burke had 2 singles. Triples were also hit by Stanley and Rumph with a double from Foreman and a single from Warmington. Runs were scored by Bunnaman, Nikki Fulton and Stanley.
Sunday morning saw the Gateway Gators (Vallance) play the other Guelph Gateway Gators team. The Vallance team won 18-3. Most notable in this game was Russell with a single, double and triple. Foreman had a triple and a single and Bailey Reid contributed with a double and single. Singles went to Alanna Anstett, Hunter, Bunnaman, and Mackenzie Merkley. Martin pitched all 4 innings, striking out 4 while allowing 4 hits.
The Guelph Gateway Gators lost their final game of the weekend, 1-0, in a rematch against Mississauga North-Acton. The Gators recorded only 5 singles during this game, Russell with 2 and one each for Anstett, Bunnaman and Foreman. Despite several chances, the Gators could not push the tying run across the plate. Kurt took the loss, pitching 6 innings while allowing 4 hits with 4 strikeouts.
